Awards Evening
Rosehill Secondary College encourages students to explore their potential by entering national and international competitions. This year these have included English, Mathematics, Science and Computer Skills. The competitions provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation. They also provide schools and teachers with comprehensive reporting of results and also give parents helpful information regarding their child’s performance in these curriculum areas. All students receive a Certificate and an individual Student Report indicating which questions they answered correctly, as well as the average mark for their state. The Student Report is also useful for highlighting student strengths and weaknesses in the skills and processes of the key learning area. The documents are suitable for inclusion in a portfolio.
The annual Rosehill Secondary College Awards Evening is an opportunity
to share the school community’s achievements and highlight what the
students at Rosehill Secondary College are capable of. The awards presented
to students are in recognition of student dedication and excellence across
all the curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical
Education, Technology, Information and Communications Technology, Visual
Arts, Studies of Society and Environment, Languages Other Than English and
Performing Arts, as well as extra-curricular activities. Some of these awards
include Sporting Blue and Sports Participation, Tina Maximos Memorial, Caltex
All Rounder, Community, Roger Smith Memorial, Sue Edwards Memorial, Pennisi
Real Estate Student Encouragement, Anthony Pryor Student Encouragement,
Student Representative Council and DUX.
The evening also provides plenty of entertainment, ranging from singing,
dancing, cultural presentations from our LOTE Department, music from our
School Band, speeches from staff and students and much more.
