Camps
At NSC we have an exciting camp program for the students, all of which encourage outdoor pursuits, team building and relationship development.
Year 7
The year 7 orientation camp at Campaspe Downs (near Kyneton) is run early in Term 1. The camp offers an introduction to a wide range of adventure activities including canoeing, raft building, archery, orienteering, low ropes course, mountain bike riding, flying fox, swimming, abseiling and horse riding. The camp is fully catered and accommodation is in dormitories. All linen (pillows, doonas, sheets) are provided.On camp the students are allocated to groups which rotate through the selected activity program during their stay.
Year 8
Year 8 camp at Anglesea. This camp specialises in aquatic activities such as surfing, sail boarding, kayaking, canoeing and initiative activities and is held during term 4. Activities are run by instructors from the Go Ride a Wave group and students are based at the Department of Sport and Recreation Camp at Anglesea.
Year 9
Year 9 experience the City Centre program. Students for one week develop their research in investigating the city environment. This program places particular emphasis on independence and working co-operatively. See the city school page for more details
Year 10
This is a 3 days/ 2 night Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding Camp to Mt. Buller during the last week of term 3 (which is also the first week of Low Season where prices are significantly discounted). Students are accommodated on-mountain at Merrijig Ski Club. This arrangement enables us to partake in 3 full day's skiing and provide alternative shelter in case of inclement conditions. Ski lessons are provided for all students each day. Although Level 6 students are given preference, those from other year levels are welcome to participate due to the cost factor and nature of the activity.
Outdoor Education
There is a valued outdoor education program at Rosehill Secondary. Students who choose this subject experience a wide range of camping experiences and outdoor activities
VCE Camp
At the end of semester 2 year 12 students attend a residential seminar at the University of Melbourne. The focus of this camp is to enhance students study skills and provide lectures around specific subjects.
