Staff Professional Development
The professional learning and development of teachers at Rosehill Secondary College
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether
at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps
learning stays young. The greatest thing in
life is to keep your mind young.”
Henry Ford
Rosehill Secondary College is committed to providing all teachers will the
opportunities to learn and grow as adult learners. The College’s Leadership
Team and the Professional Development Learning Team encourages all teachers
to reflect on their practice and goals as professionals and educators, participate
in a Learning Team, engage in Performance Recognition process with a Mentor,
participate in curriculum and lesson planning with their colleagues, have
professional conversations with other teachers and participate in a wide
range of formal and informal learning earning activities and programs designed
to enhance their professional knowledge, skills and attitudes. This process
of growth and development provides opportunities for teachers to examine
and challenge their assumptions about their role, experiment with teaching
procedures and approaches and develop a deeper understanding of their subject
content, the students they teach and how their students learn.
Teachers are also encouraged and supported in their pursuit of other forms
of personal professional learning such as through accredited courses
The program offers support to staff through both formal and informal channels.
Our aim is to support the staff to develop personally in conjunction with
the developing the overall goals school's envisioned and established through
the school Charter Priorities. Some key issues for Professional Development
from a whole school perspective relate to "learner centred" pedagogies.
These include integrated learning, reflective learning, learning styles,
student driven assessment etc.
