Rosehill Secondary College

Selective Talent Enrichment Program (S.T.E.P)

STEP is designed for high achieving students who possess the capacity for academic success. The program is designed to involve the participating students in challenging and personalised learning experiences, provide them with the best possible educational opportunities, assist in nurturing their individual talents and help them to achieve excellent VCE results. One group, of approximately 20-25 students, is selected to commence the program in Year 7 each year. There are four groups as part of the STEP(7-10).

The STEP groups study the core disciplines of English and Mathematics as a group and elect the balance of their learning program from a range of units offered by the other key Domains - Humanities, Science, The Arts, L.O.T.E, Technology anf PE/Health. They will learn with students from outside the STEP program during these classes. Students involved in the STEP are expected to actively participate in extra curricula activities such as music, sport, various academic competitions and debating. The Program also requires that the students and their parents have internet access at home to facilitate online studies and for electronic communication between the College and home. This communication might include student discussion forums and the ability to access online curriculum and learning tasks.

Entry to this program is through application and testing. Please contact the Vice Principal, Mrs Sandra Smart on 93372488 for further details.
